Principal - Lisa Berg
I've been teaching for 10 years and feel very excited to be beginning a new adventure this fall as principal of Assumption School. I recently completed my Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Alberta. Prior to that, I did my Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts degrees at the University of Victoria. Being a educator is my passion and I'm looking forward to being able to have an influence on the learning of all students in our school. My husband and I feel very fortunate to be able to work and live in such a beautiful community.

I was born and raised in Northern Italy where I completed a five year program in Bookkeeping and Simple Accounting. I am also fluent in three languages - Italian, German, and English. I moved to Powell River in 1987, and I have been the school secretary since 2005. My priority is always to look after the children and put their needs first. I believe that our school is the perfect place to help each child grow in their own unique and special way in a happy and safe environment.
K - Angela De Vita
I graduated from the University of Victoria with a Bachelor of Elementary Education and have completed an Early Years Education Diploma. Having a specialization in the early years has helped me grow in understanding of development in the early years of a child’s life and how to nurture young minds. In my classroom I attempt to foster a loving, caring relationship with all of my students as well as a strong start to literacy, numeracy and social skills to last a lifetime.

I completed a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta in 2002 and a Masters in Integrated Arts and Education in 2010 from Athabasca University. Being a Catholic teacher is a vocation. I especially like the curiosity and original ideas of my students. I teach them to always be merciful, caring and persistent, and never take one's hope away. Give freely of yourself and pray daily to know God's will for your life. I play piano, love fly-fishing, travelling with my husband, and visiting our grandchildren.
5/6 - Claude LaFrance
I graduated from the Seminary of Christ the King where I received my BA, while searching out the path God had for me as I pursued the vocation to the Holy Priesthood. This path then eventually led me to contemplate the Monastic life and then, finally, to marriage, fatherhood and to becoming a teacher in our Catholic schools. I have been a teacher since 1999. I have taught in a variety of schools in the Lower Mainland, but have ended up here at Assumption, where I have been teaching since 2007.

I have been a teacher at Assumption since 1997 and have had the privilege of teaching most every subject and elective in Grades 7-9. I also love getting involved with extra-curricular activities, as learning outside the classroom is an important part of a well-rounded education. I take pride in knowing that Assumption has high academic and social standards and feel very fortunate that I can speak openly with the students about our Catholic faith and morality.
