LATENESS: parents should make a sincere effort to ensure that their children are on time for school in the morning and they attend regularly to avoid interruption of teaching programmes. Please stop by the office for a 'late slip' before heading to class.
ABSENTEEISM: Between 8:30 and 9:05 am on the day of absence, a telephone call or email to the office is appreciated. If the school is not contacted, the secretary will begin calling the homes of all students not at school. This will ensure the safety of the children and co-operation of the parents is requested.
When a child has been unable to attend school, he or she must, upon return to school, submit a written note to the teacher advising the school authorities of the reason of their absence. The Ministry of Education requires notes: when we are audited, we are deducted funding for those days over the required number as well as days not supported by a note.
Parents need to call the office when their child is sick or away on holiday:
Yes, we ask that you please phone the school daily when your child is sick at home. It is also requested that you please let the office and the teachers know when you are planning to take your child on a holiday. We would also like to remind you to send in a note explaining the reason for the absence (holiday, medical and/or funeral) including the dates as well as a parent/guardian signature.
